Starting Nursery

What To Bring With You

Each child should have sufficient clothes for their daily needs plus a spare set in the event of accidents. Parents are asked to ensure that children do not bring valuable items with them, as the Nursery cannot accept responsibility for any subsequent loss or damage.

Please bring sun hats and adequate sunblock during the summer months, Wellington boots, gloves and suitable winter clothing to ensure your child can benefit from outdoor play.

All clothes should be clearly labelled. Parents of children who are not fully toilet trained are asked to provide enough nappies and baby wipes to last the day.

Snack and Lunch Boxes

Children will need to bring a packed lunch to the Nursery but will have the option of bringing their snack or having a nursery snack for a daily charge.

Lunch boxes must be “nut-free”, with no products that may “contain nuts”. We will always check lunch boxes and if items have any traces of nuts, these will be removed and returned to parents at the end of the sessions. Lunch boxes should follow the NHS Healthy Eating Guidance. Just One Norfolk has produced some recipes, tips and advice for families here.

We will update families with specific allergies we have in the nursery at the time of children attending.

Settling Sessions and Home Visits

Before starting nursery, your child will be offered a home visit by the child’s Key Person, along with two settling sessions for 2 hours. This will help your child to become familiar with staff, and the nursery environment before starting their normal sessions at Nursery.
